Scottish Nature Colour
On-going experiments include working with woad, birch & nettle to produce fantastic vibrant colours consisting of a multitude of tones. This contrasts with the saturated blocks of colour achieved by mass-manufactured synthetic dyes and paints that have a huge environmental impact.
As well as the actual small-batch process, I’m fascinated and intrigued by how using natural colours can connect us to land & place. To explore this further, I’m looking to establish a small colour garden within my community; using permaculture principles to cultivate & grow plants for future experiments and share Knowledge and conversation about the processes involved.
